The first bitcoin futures contract launched in Taiwan is set to begin trading on Wednesday.
Shawbrook, a bitcoin futures exchange, will operate as a subsidiary of Bitmain, the world’s largest bitcoin trading platform.
Bitmain’s platform operates in 19 countries and has more than 6,000 traders.
Bitcoin futures contracts will be offered for the first time in Taiwan after the island’s legislature approved legislation that allows the country to establish an independent financial services regulator.
The state-owned Bank of Taiwan, the country’s central bank, has been trying to establish a bitcoin exchange for several years.
Bitcoin exchanges are already regulated by regulators in countries including the United States and Japan.
Bitcoin was not listed on the official Bitcoin futures exchange’s website until it was announced this month that Bitmain was taking over the company.
Shawsbrook is the first bitcoin trading company in Taiwan.
It will be the first exchange to offer futures contracts on bitcoin.
The bank said that its futures trading platform will offer a range of bitcoin options, including bitcoin cash, bitcoin gold, bitcoin cash-based bitcoin, and bitcoin gold.
Bitcoin has been on a downward trend since the start of the year.
It has declined more than $1,000 on the news that China banned its use as a form of currency.
Bitcoin surged to more than US$1,700 per bitcoin last week before the government said it would start regulating the digital currency.
Shawn Wong, director of operations for the Bank of China, said on April 26 that the bitcoin industry was experiencing “a crisis of legitimacy.”
“It is very unfortunate that we have to bring it down a little bit, but that is the nature of the business,” Wong said at a news conference.
“We have to make sure that the currency is legal and secure, and that is what we are trying to do.”
Shawrock said its futures contracts are the first ones offered in Taiwan and will allow customers to buy and sell bitcoin, as well as other digital currencies, in an exchange that will allow investors to easily convert the currencies.
Shawkbrook’s futures contract will offer investors a range, ranging from bitcoin cash to bitcoin gold to bitcoin cash.
The futures will be available on Wednesday, May 4 at 1 p.m.
ET and priced at US$7.70, according to the website.
